eBook Publishing and Reading With Aluratek Libre Touch

eBook readers have evolved very quickly in recent years. Now, most users find and prefer the android-based systems that allow them to do a variety of publishing and reading activities, aside from enjoying the wide selection available eBooks online. The Aluratek Libre Touch is one gadget to look out for. It is very similar to the Nook in the sense that it also offers a full web browser, the android-based system, an LCD screen over the traditional e-ink screen and applications for calendar and email. There are other differences between the two after these features. The Aluratek Libre Touch for eBook publishing and reading is priced at $149.

About the Features

As far as looks go, the Aluratek Libre Touch is very pleasing to view. It measures 8.0 inches high, 4.9 inches wide and 0.5 inches deep and only weighs 11.9 ounces. It features the right size that fits comfortably in one hand. The "less is more" approach to the design gives it a very elegant look, completed by the matte black finish. You will notice the logo at the front and a hardware button that does almost everything. The screen measures 7 inches, then there are page turning controls at the right part. The power button is located at the top. The base of the device includes a micro-SD card slot, a headphone jack and controls for volume. There's a single speaker and another logo at the back of the gadget.

More Characteristics

The Aluratek Libre Touch's screen is TFT LCD measuring 7 inches and has a resolution of 800 x 480. The resistive nature of the screen allows users to press harder without having to worry about bleeds and damaging the device over time. However, some users say that the screen tends to have some static and interference, making it hard to look at for several minutes at a time. Brightness is also an issue since the screen is generally dark by default.

The Libre Touch can give you reading sessions lasting up to around 8 hours. The bookstore of the device is powered by Kobo, which means that you can get a lot of applications and books. You have to register with Adobe Digital Editions first and setup. Downloading books is very easy using the Kobo website. The Libre Touch already has 100 pre-loaded books. Exporting books and files for eBook publishing is also relatively easy. The device is powered by Android 1.5.
