One of those things is when you have to go and get a smog test for your car. Until the day your car turns seven years old, you will find a lot of people don't even think about it.
But be warned, if you do fail the smog check, what was supposed to be a small $50 smog check suddenly turns into a huge auto repair bill.
When you need your vehicle to pass a smog test so you can renew your vehicle registration, here are some tips you can take so your inexpensive smog test, can pass with flying colors.
So before you visit a smog test San Diego only center follow these tips.
First, be positive that your vehicle is running correctly. If you feel the vehicle is not running right, immediately take it to a auto repair shop and have them find out what is wrong. Then fix it, prior to a smog test.
Second, is an easy one but necessary, take your car for a drive.Remeber when you are trying to pass the smog check, you vehicle's burning of the fuel needs to be efficient and produce as little smog as possible.When you don't take the time to warm up the car, these causes the car not to have the correct combustion.If that does happen, you have a high chance of failing.Just take it for a drive for 15 minutes or so and you will get your car to run optimally when it is taken in.
Third, try to use fuel additives.This has to be done during the time you fill up your car with gas. You just add it to the gas tank. What this does is it helps lowers emmission levels by cleaning your car's intake and exhaust paths. This allows the fuel and air to flow freely.
Fourth, inflate your tires to proper pressure.This small trick will make your vehicle have more stability when driven and more accuracy when you have the smog test.This greatlly improves the emmission's overall output because it helps the engine maintain a steady load.
Finallly, get an oil change.If the oil in your car does need to be changed and is contaminated, this can be a cause of failure when you take it for a smog test. Contaminated oils are high in hydrocarbons and that could cause the failed test.
Follow these simple tips and you will surely pass your smog test with flying colors. Take it from my experience running a San Diego auto repair service shop.
